Beef and pork carcasses which are usually demonstrated in front of numerous cafes and shops in Asia don’t shock me anymore. I’m used to it. But in places where I really see how living beings are butchered I don’t want to eat them. I’m not that strict vegetarian but if I see something like this… please, no meat! It’s horrible to see (and even think and read about!) a pig which is processed. Ears, noses were thrown separately, legs were put in a large metal bowl, the other pig’s parts were prepared for immediate lunch cooking. Two hungry clients were sitting nearby, with chopsticks in their hands. They were impatiently waiting for their food.
I decided to show the meat processing in China. As an example I made a photos of chicken processing. I think it would be enough. Look at the pictures.
It happened in tiny Yingpan town on the bank of the Mekong river in Yunnan province of China. Outdoor slaughter of domestic livestock is common here (same as in whole Asia). This is a town market. Chicken cages are located next to vegetable stalls. When customer appears or when it’s time to sacrifice the next victim salesman takes the chicken out from the cage and swings its neck until it breaks.

Still alive

Poultry is usually sold with heads and toes with claws in China. That is the reason why chickens don’t look like prefabricated food in a supermarket, much more like corpses. Despite the fact that fowls are usually defeathered.

This machine is called chicken plucker and used for defeathering.

Chicken plucker (blue and white colored) is on the right side. Ready for sale processed poultry is in the bowl.

Hurry and buy!

People are walking around and looking for today’s poultry.

Bonus for a strong readers. Cows were processed just 200 meters aside.
